27 November 2008: A new survey, in line with an earlier poll of youth carried out by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) as a part of UNite to Combat Climate Change campaign, suggests that the environment remains a concern despite the financial downturn.

Conducted by the HSBC Climate Partnership, the poll of 12,000 people
from 12 countries including the US, China and Brazil, shows that: 43%
of respondents think climate change is a bigger problem than the
economy; 75% or respondents want their countries to reduce greenhouse
gas emissions at least as much as other countries; and 55% of
respondents want their governments to invest in renewable energy. [UNEP Press Release]
