UNEP7 October 2015: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has launched an inter-active online hub, MyUNEA.org, meant to increase citizen participation in the resolutions and issues addressed by the UN Environment Assembly (UNEA). MyUNEA.org was launched on 7 October 2015, during the Eye on Earth Summit in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates.

My UNEA.org provides tools to support the participation of a diverse range of stakeholders, from citizens and government officials through to businesses and trade unions. The hub will contain reports and documents prepared for UNEA discussions and use stories, projects, research, data visualization, data analytics and examples to explain the importance and implementation of UNEA resolutions, while also inviting input.

The portal introduces a timeline that outlines UNEA’s global and regional preparatory activities and acts as a repository of their outcomes, drawing information from other UN digital platforms including the World We Want 2015 and the Time for Global Action. It also provides a gateway to the youth-focused Tunza Network.

The interactive platform aims to catalyze e-discussions with regard to the upcoming second session of UNEA, which will convene under the theme, ‘Healthy Environment for Healthy People’ from 23-27 May 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya. [MyUNEA.org] [UNEP Press Release]
