Biotrade and Green Economy WeekJune 2011: The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) hosted “Biotrade and Green Economy Week” in Kathmandu, Nepal, from 31 May-3 June 2011. Events associated with the Week raised awareness and knowledge about sustainable trade in biodiversity-based products, and ways in which this can assist in transforming natural resource based economies into green economies.

According to UNEP, the week included events for policymakers, the business sector, media and development partners. During the week, the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, over 20 private sector representatives, and UNEP engaged in detailed discussion on trade-related opportunities that a green economy may offer to Nepal.
