© UNEP2 July 2009: The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hosted a workshop for 16 Chinese Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) to discuss UNEP’s Green Economy initiatives and its work on combating climate change, international campaigns, and activities on green construction, reforestation and green technology.

UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner said the visit provided the opportunity for UNEP “to demonstrate that significant progress can be achieved in the transition towards a low carbon society.” He elaborated that China boasts enormous potential to move towards a green economy. The Chinese CEOs committed to being part of this future and expressed interest in expanding their cooperation with UNEP. [UNEP Press Release]
