5 February 2010: The UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) has launched a global survey to identify the climate change data needs of the financial services sector.

UNEP FI is undertaking the survey jointly with the German Sustainable Business Institute (SBI), with the support of the Government of Germany. It aims to establish: how and to what extent financial institutions (lenders, investors and insurers) are already affected by climate change and how their exposure will develop in the future; the information needs of the financial services sector with regard to the physical impacts of climate change; and how well financial institutions are already equipped with the climate change information available and where gaps exist. Responses to the survey are requested by 5 March 2010. [UNEP FI Questionnaire]
