March 2009: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), together with the European Water Partnership, the Dutch Ministry for Transport and Public Works, the World Water Council and the Cooperative Programme on Water and Climate, is organizing a Conference on Climate Change Adaptation and Water, which will take place from 12-13 March 2009, in Brussels, Belgium.
The Conference will showcase and promote good practices in Europe in three areas of water and adaptation to climate change: spatial planning, finance and water use efficiency; and social aspects. The Conference builds on ongoing efforts for adaptation at the national and international level and will, among other issues, discuss the draft UNECE Guidance on Water and Climate Change Adaptation, developed currently under the UNECE Water Convention. It will also include a presentation of the EU Commission’s White Paper on Climate Change Adaptation as well as the international launch of the Dutch Delta Commission Report. [Conference Website]
