The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has changed the name of its Timber Committee to ‘Committee on Forest and Forest Industry' to better reflect the Committee's work, which, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), focuses on the relationship of forest management to forest products and forest services.
11 April 2013: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has changed the name of its Timber Committee to ‘Committee on Forest and Forest Industry’ to better reflect the Committee’s work, which, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), focuses on the relationship of forest management to forest products and forest services.
The Committee also continues work on an ‘Action Plan for the Forest Sector in the Green Economy,’ which is expected to be finalized and adopted at a special session of the Committee to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, on 17-18 June 2013. [UNECE Press Release]
