18 January 2010: The “Weekly” newsletter of the UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), for the period 18-22 January 2010, reports on the 59th session of the Working Party on Pollution and Energy of the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations, which met from 12-15 January 2010, in Geneva, Switzerland.The meeting adopted, among other things, proposed amendments to regulations on fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions, for consideration by the World Forum at its March 2010 session. In addition, it created new informal groups on heavy-duty hybrid electric vehicles and on the energy efficiency of mobile air conditioning. The Working Party is a subsidiary to the World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations, and is a group of experts that conducts research and analysis to develop emission and energy requirements for vehicles.
