UNECE Reviews Turkmenistan’s Environmental Performance

A team of international experts coordinated by UNECE with logistical support from UNDP is conducting an Environmental Performance Review (EPR) of Turkmenistan from 22 February-3 March 2011, to discuss biodiversity issues, among others.

23 February 2011: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) started an Environmental Performance Review (EPR) in Turkmenistan on 22 February 2011, with a team of international experts remaining in the country until 3 March 2011.

The EPR team is expected to meet government officials, international organizations based in the country and NGOs to discuss ongoing projects and programmes for environmental protection and sustainable development, energy, pollution prevention, water, waste, forestry, biodiversity, protected areas, and public participation in environmental matters.
