18jan_10_07January 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) has released a brochure titled “Clearing the Air: 30th Anniversary of the Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution,” which reviews the Convention’s three decades of achievements in protecting human health, agriculture, freshwater, and historic and cultural monuments. Looking ahead, the brochure underlines that the Convention recognizes the importance of working in an integrated manner to combat climate change, and has initiated dialogue with international organizations to explore synergies in this area. To this end, the brochure points to the need to bring climate change and air pollution policies together, using a multi-substance and multi-effect approach that builds on the same integrated science.
