Workshop addresses climate change impacts on international transport networks and seeks to identify adequate adaptation responses.
8 September 2010: The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) organized a joint workshop in Geneva, Switzerland, on 8 September 2010, on climate change impacts on international transport networks.
The workshop is part of the 23rd session of the UNECE Working Party on Transport Trends and Economics, and of a series of UNECE and UNCTAD activities focused on climate change and transport. It provided a platform for discussions on how best to bridge the knowledge gaps concerning climate change impacts on transport networks with a view to identifying adequate adaptation responses. Discussions specifically covered issues relating to different modes of transportation in international supply-chains, taking into account the situation in both developed and developing countries.
