UNDP’s Grynspan Encourages Feedback on Post-2015 Development Agenda
story highlights

Citing unmet Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), UNDP Associate Administrator Rebeca Grynspan says the post-2015 development agenda must reach “the poorest of the poor” and other disadvantaged or stigmatized people.

It should ensure inclusive and green economic growth, social protection for all, and preservation of the global commons, and be in line with the outcome of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

UNDP1 May 2012: In the latest installment of “Road to Rio” commentary by officials of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), Associate Administrator Rebeca Grynspan asks for feedback from civil society on the post-2015 development agenda, including what should replace the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Citing unmet goals and targets of the MDGs, she says the post-2015 development agenda must reach “the poorest of the poor” and other disadvantaged or stigmatized people. It should ensure inclusive and green economic growth, social protection for all, and preservation of the global commons. Therefore, she notes, it must be in line with the outcome of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).

Grynspan invites feedback on the post-2015 agenda via UNDP’s Facebook page. [Publication: Road to Rio: What Should Replace the MDGs?]
