27 March 2013: The UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the World Bank held a design workshop to develop a Climate Finance Options (CFO) Platform for Viet Nam (CFO-CN) in Hanoi, Viet Nam. This knowledge platform is expected to facilitate increased collaboration on, and discussion of, climate finance in Viet Nam.

The design workshop, which was attended by over 70 representatives from government, NGOs, academia and the private sector, included plenary and working group discussions on information and tools to include in the Viet Nam Platform, in addition to translation into Vietnamese of existing content from the global CFO Platform. The Platform will also build on the UNDP-World Bank Climate Public Expenditure and Institutional Review (CPEIR) for Viet Nam.

Local UNDP and World Bank offices will design and build the platform, with support from Vietnam’s Natural Resources and Environment (MONRE) and Planning and Infrastructure (MPI) Ministries. The Platform will be launched later in 2013 and will be managed by MPI with support from MONRE. The platform is expected to contribute to Viet Nam’s National Green Growth Strategy, which was adopted in September 2012.
