May 2010: The International Policy Centre for Inclusive Growth of the UN Development Programme (UNDP) has released a policy brief titled “South-South Cooperation – The Same Old Game or a New Paradigm?” The brief addresses various dimensions of the challenges and opportunities arising from the rapid increase in the number of emerging economies due to their greater involvement in development cooperation to address global challenges, such as industrial development, technology transfer and climate change.

The brief considers whether they can build a new and more inclusive paradigm that secures faster and more sustainable development, as well as more inclusive cooperation, and translates opportunities into better voice for least developed countries. The brief outlines potential areas of cooperation, including solar energy and coal liquefaction. [The Policy Brief]
