The Ozone Programme Implementation and Management Unit of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the World Customs Organisation and the Green Customs Initiative convened a workshop in West Africa in September to address transnational environmental crime.

The “train the trainers” workshop sought to enable senior customs officers from Nigeria, the Gambia, Ghana, Sierra Leone and Liberia to identify harmful cross-border environmental crimes, including the illegal trade of environmentally-sensitive commodities such as ozone depleting substances, toxic chemical products, hazardous wastes, fauna and flora, and living modified organisms.
