UNCSD Secretariat Publishes “Making it Happen” Issue 2.7

The newsletter reports that the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs Division for Sustainable Development held an inter-agency meeting to review the various programmes to be submitted by UN system agencies and regional commissions for inclusion in the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production; and that ECESA Plus convened to discuss the institutional framework for sustainable development.

15 April 2011: The latest issue of “Rio+20: Making it Happen,” the newsletter by the Secretariat for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), features the upcoming 19th session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 19), among other events and developments.

On CSD 19, which will convene in New York, US from 2-13 May 2011, the newsletter notes that the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) Division for Sustainable Development (DSD) held an inter-agency meeting to review the various programmes to be submitted by UN system agencies and regional commissions for inclusion in the 10-Year Framework of Programmes (10YFP) on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP).

On the interactive dialogue on “Harmony with Nature,” convened by the UN General Assembly on 20 April 2011, the newsletter provides the dialogue’s programme and notes that it is intended to inform preparations for the UNCSD.

The newsletter also highlights the rationale of the Rio+20 logo, guidelines for its use, the Twitter feed of the UNCSD Secretariat, and that the Rio+20 website is enabled to search all statements made as part of the UNCSD process.

The newsletter reports that “ECESA Plus,” the Executive Committee of Economic and Social Affairs (EC-ESA) plus the UN Development Group (UNDG) and Environment Management Group (EMG), convened on 13 April 2011 to discuss one of the UNCSD themes, institutional framework for sustainable development.
