Rio+202 November 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) has begun compiling submissions for the UNCSD Compilation Document. Input to the document was received by States, political groups, the UN system and other intergovernmental organizations, and Major Groups, as well as from regional preparatory meetings.

Written input was invited by the second session of the UNCSD Preparatory Committee (PrepCom II), and received until 1 November 2011. The resulting Compilation Document will serve as the basis for preparation of the “zero draft” of the outcome document of the Conference. The Co-Chairs formally issued a request for input to the compilation document on 14 March 2011, and in July 2011 released a guidance note to support States and other stakeholders in responding to the invitation.

The Secretariat notes that posting the submissions is still ongoing; as of 2 November 2011, input from 54 UN member States has been reflected on the website. Political groups that submitted input include: the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Pacific small island developing States (PSIDS), the EU and its member States, the Group of 77 and China (G-77/China), and Pacific Island Forum (PIF) member States. Submissions also are shown from several Major Groups, currently including: Farmers, Women, Workers and Trade Unions, and Children and Youth, and are the largest portion of submissions.

Regional preparatory meetings that took place before the 1 November 2011 deadline – for Africa, Arab States, the Asia-Pacific, and Latin America and the Caribbean – will be incorporated in the document. The preparatory meeting for the UN Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) convenes after the deadline, from 1-2 December 2011.

All submissions, including those from UN entities, are searchable on the webpage.
