Issue 2:2 of “Rio20: Making it Happen” highlights that, in addressing the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for “revolutionary action” to achieve sustainable development and emphasized that sustainable development is one of the UN's eight priorities for 2011.

31 January 2011: The second issue, volume two, of the UNCSD Secretariat’s biweekly newsletter, titled “Rio20: Making it Happen,” highlights that, in addressing the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for “revolutionary action” to achieve sustainable development and emphasized that sustainable development is one of the UN’s eight priorities for 2011.

The newsletter also reports that: the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) organized an intersessional meeting on the 10-year framework of programmes (10YFP) on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) in Panama City, Panama, on 13-14 January 2011; and the first Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Global Partnership for Sustainable Tourism, which met on 18-19 January 2011, in Costa Rica, established a functioning partnership framework to boost sustainable tourism.

The newsletter also highlights a new UN-Energy/UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) report on motor systems efficiency supply curves and a new UNEP Global Trends in Sustainable Energy investments report on analysis of trends and financing. [Read: Rio20: Making it Happen]
