UNCSD Newsletter Highlights International Days, National Preparations

The newsletter "Rio+20: Making It Happen” also highlights: the imminent launch of the UN Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) in Incheon, Republic of Korea; upcoming training sessions on national preparatory processes for the UNCSD; and the Badung Declaration that was at the TUNZA International Children and Youth Conference on the Environment.

Rio+2014 October 2011: The Secretariat of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) has released the latest issue of its newsletter, “Rio+20: Making It Happen,” echoing the UN Secretary-General’s message from the International Day of Rural Women, celebrated on 15 October 2011, regarding rural women’s “enormous untapped potential to promote sustainable development and poverty eradication.”

The newsletter also notes that the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, marked on 17 October 2011, will be celebrated under the theme “From Poverty to Sustainability: People at the Centre of Inclusive Development.”

The publication also highlights: the recently-convened Delhi Ministerial Dialogue on Green Economy and Inclusive Growth; the imminent launch of the UN Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) in Incheon, Republic of Korea; upcoming training sessions on national preparatory processes for the UNCSD; and the Badung Declaration that was adopted by over 1400 children and youth delegates participating in the TUNZA International Children and Youth Conference on the Environment, recently hosted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and other UN entities.
