13 May 2008: UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) Executive Secretary Luc Gnacadja met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the sixteenth session of the UN Commission on Sustainable Development.
During the meeting, the Secretary-General underlined the UNCCD’s importance as “a powerful tool to address land degradation,” and pledged his support to advocate for the UNCCD whenever needed, in particular in this juncture of the current climate change debate. [UNCCD Press Release]
