20 July 2009: The UN Secretary-General is scheduled to travel to China on 24 July 2009, where he will meet with Chinese President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi and other Chinese officials in Beijing, and participate in a number of climate change-related programmes, including a “Green Light” event focusing on energy efficient technologies.

UN spokesperson Marie Okabe indicated that the Secretary-General will then travel to Mongolia on 26 July 2009, where he is expected to address the challenges of climate change and adaptation, with an emphasis on the special needs of landlocked countries.
