Addressing the UN General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Meeting on Youth, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged young people to "play a central role in bringing dynamic new ideas, fresh thinking and energy" to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) process.

Ban Ki-moon, UN Secretary General25 July 2011: In his remarks to the UN General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Meeting on Youth, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called for making “sustainable development for all the defining issue of our time,” and underlined that climate change can only be addressed within this broader framework.

At the meeting, which took place on 25 July 2011, at UN Headquarters in New York, US, Ban urged young people to “play a central role in bringing dynamic new ideas, fresh thinking and energy” to the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20) process.
