3 June 2014: The UN Human Settlements Programme’s (UN-HABITAT) City Resilience Profiling Progamme and the Autonomous University of Barcelona’s School of Engineering announced a collaboration to design and construct software to increase cities’ resilience to disasters.

UN-HABITAT and the Autonomous University of Barcelona will collaborate to transform the City Resilience Profiling Tool, including making it more user-friendly and robust.

Partner cities in City Resilience Profiling Programme provide data that is used to generate urban resilience indicators. Partner cities include: Balangoda, Sri Lanka; Barcelona, Spain; Beirut, Lebanon; Dagupan the Philippines; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Lokoja, Nigeria; Portmore, Jamaica; Concepción, Chile; Tehran, Iran; and Wellington, New Zealand. UN-HABITAT selected these cities based on proposals submitted in response to a call for proposals. The cities represent a spectrum of commitment to the resilience agenda, economic and geographic distribution, hazard profiles and population size.
