UN-HABITAT3 June 2014: The UN Human Settlements Programme’s (UN-HABITAT) City Resilience Profiling Progamme and the Autonomous University of Barcelona’s School of Engineering announced a collaboration to design and construct software to increase cities’ resilience to disasters.

UN-HABITAT and the Autonomous University of Barcelona will collaborate to transform the City Resilience Profiling Tool, including making it more user-friendly and robust.

Partner cities in City Resilience Profiling Programme provide data that is used to generate urban resilience indicators. Partner cities include: Balangoda, Sri Lanka; Barcelona, Spain; Beirut, Lebanon; Dagupan the Philippines; Dar es Salaam, Tanzania; Lokoja, Nigeria; Portmore, Jamaica; Concepción, Chile; Tehran, Iran; and Wellington, New Zealand. UN-HABITAT selected these cities based on proposals submitted in response to a call for proposals. The cities represent a spectrum of commitment to the resilience agenda, economic and geographic distribution, hazard profiles and population size.

The City Resilience Profiling Programme aims to develop content and share knowledge, resources and tools on urban resilience and multi-hazard impacts with national and local governments. [UN-HABITAT Press Release] [City Resilience Profiling Programme Website]
