20 February 2012: The UN Greening the Blue Campaign has announced that the UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) is partnering with religious institutions to install solar panels to power lights in schools.

The project aims to provide electricity and to promote the use of renewable energy in Afghanistan, and is expected to benefit 570 students.
