UN Greening the Blue Announces CO2 Balloon Launch

According to Greening the Blue, the balloon represents a single tonne of carbon dioxide, and is part of a project co-sponsored by the Government of Chile and the UN.

The balloon bears the Greening the Blue logo and website details, in order to raise awareness of the UN's efforts to manage its sustainability performance.

31 January 2011: The UN Greening the Blue Campaign has announced that a 10-meter-high balloon has been launched outside of UN Headquarters in New York, US, in an effort to draw attention to the quantities of carbon dioxide produced per person, per year.

The balloon represents one ton of carbon dioxide, and is part of a project co-sponsored by the Government of Chile and the UN.
