4 May 2009: The UN Committee on Information is holding its 31st session from 4-15 May 2009, in New York, US. Opening the meeting, Amb. Antonio Lima (Cape Verde) noted that the UN Department of Public Information (DPI) is now better equipped, more focused and technologically better prepared to spread the message about the work carried out by the Organization.
Kiyo Akasaka, UN Under-Secretary General for Communications and Public Information, stated that following decisions of member States and the vision of the UN Secretary-General, the DPI’s communications priorities for 2009 centre on the UN development agenda, including the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and climate change.
