April 2010: The report of the 48th session of the UN Commission for Social Development, which convened in February 2010, has been released (E/2010/26). The report focuses on the priority theme of social integration and reviews relevant UN plans and programmes of action pertaining to the situation of social groups.
The report recognizes that the attainment of the social development objectives may be hindered by the economic, financial, food and energy crises, as well as challenges brought about by climate change. It also encourages the international community to support African countries in addressing the challenges of climate change by providing the financial and technological resources, and capacity building needed to support adaptation and mitigation actions.
