UN, ASEAN Discuss Climate Change and Disaster Management

The two Secretariats held a dialogue on ASEAN-UN cooperation, adressing regional and global issues, including climate change, disaster management, sustainable development and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

28 September 2011: UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, General Assembly (UNGA) President Nassir Abdulaziz Al-Nasser, Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Surin Pitsuwan and others recently met to discuss collaboration on common priorities between the UN and the South-East Asian bloc.

The meeting took place on the margins of the high-level debate of the 66th session of the UNGA at UN Headquarters in New York, US. Participants addressed regional and global issues, including climate change, disaster management, sustainable development and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
