6 December 2012: The Congo Basin Forest Partnership project TRIDOM met from 5-6 December 2012, in Doula, Cameroon, to discuss stepping up anti-poaching efforts in 2013. TRIDOM refers to the transborder complex of protected areas in the countries of Cameroon, the Republic of Congo and Gabon.

The meeting was preceded by a regional workshop for the adoption of the TRIDOM anti-poaching Draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) among Cameroon, the Republic of Congo and Gabon. The goals of the MoU are to reinforce collaboration between TRIDOM field actors and to draft the TRIDOM anti-poaching Action Plan for 2013.

At the end of the meeting, participants adopted several recommendations including: to ensure proper coordination between interventions; identify and define intervention zones for teams for the implementation of activities, including anti-poaching actions and ecological monitoring; and determine the scope of all border checkpoints.

The Congo Basin Forest Partnership was launched at the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD) in Johannesburg, South Africa, as a non-binding partnership registered with the UN Commission on Sustainable Development.
