28 November 2013: The Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) has announced the launch of the prototype of the Transport Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMA) Database, which aims to facilitate access to and learning from existing transport NAMAs at all stages of development.

The database prototype, which was launched during the 19th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 19) to the UNFCCC in Warsaw, Poland, in November, aims to provide information on several features of transport NAMAs, including their: development stage; technical design; mitigation impact; measurement, reporting and verification (MRV); and financing.

The database is an interactive wiki-based portal, which has been developed by the German International Cooperation’s (GIZ) TRANSfer Project and supported by the World Resources Institute’s (WRI) EMBARQ project in the framework of the Bridging the Gap (BtG) network and the Partnership on Sustainable Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT). A revised version of the database, which will incorporate stakeholder feedback, will be launched early 2014.

SLoCaT is a Type II Partnership and is hosted by UN-DESA, with regional focal points in the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).
