Leading Automaker Toyota Motor Europe Joins UNEP's Climate Neutral Network 18 August 2008: Toyota Motor Europe has become the first car manufacturer to join the UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Climate Neutral Network.

This initiative, launched in February 2008, aims to bring together public and private entities that pledge to significantly reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. Speaking about Toyota’s decision to join the Climate Neutral Network, Angela Cropper, UNEP Deputy Executive Director, said “The participation of a major company like Toyota is a sign that private companies are increasingly playing their part on the road to a low carbon society.” Five other companies have also joined the Climate Neutral Network this week: the Carbon Association of Australasia, CO2focus, EcoSecurities, Green Cabs and Wairau River Wines.
