Third High Level Forum on Aid Effectiveness Opens
story highlights

2 September 2008: The Third High Level Forum on Aid
Effectiveness is taking place from 2-4 September 2008, in Accra, Ghana. Over
100 high-level country representatives, as well as heads of bilateral and
multilateral development agencies, donor organizations, and civil society
organizations, will discuss ways to increase the transparency of aid and make
it more results-oriented.

The draft Accra Agenda for Action, which will be
discussed and adopted during the meeting, recognizes climate change as a new
global challenge that, together with rising food prices, threatens the advances
against poverty that many countries have made.
A side-event on Climate Change
adaptation and aid effectiveness is scheduled on 2 September, organized by
Sweden with the participation of Johan Schaar, Director of the Secretariat to
the Commission on Climate Change and Development, Bernard Petit, European
Commission, Richard Muyungi, Chair of the Adaptation Fund, Mary-Anne Addo,
Director of Ghana’s External Resources Mobilization Office, and Antonio Tujan,
World Development Movement. [Accra
