Sustainability Focal Points Discuss UN’s Climate Neutral Strategy

The third meeting of the Issue Management Group on Sustainability Management discussed: this year's greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory process; the development of the first generation of Emission Reduction Strategies for UN organizations; and the status of carbon offsets.

24 November 2010: The third meeting of the Issue Management Group on Sustainability Management (IMG) took place in New York, US, on 28-29 October 2010, bringing together over 50 focal points with responsibility for implementing the UN Climate Neutral Strategy.

The meeting was chaired by Niclas Svenningsen, Head of the Sustainable UN team, which coordinates and supports the IMG. The meeting agenda included: this year’s greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory process; the development of the first generation of Emission Reduction Strategies for UN organizations; and the status of carbon offsets. In addition, sessions on efforts to reduce the impacts from UN activities such as travel, building management and procurement were held.
