29 April 2012: Stakeholder Forum and the Commonwealth Secretariat have produced a revised edition of their guidebook titled “A Pocket Guide to Sustainable Development Governance.” This guide provides background information on global sustainable development governance ahead of the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20). The publication, first published in 2011, focuses on the history and dynamics of global sustainable development governance. The guidebook is divided into four sections: Global Institutions for Sustainable Development Governance; Concepts for Sustainable Development Governance; Reform Proposals for Sustainable Development Governance; and Processes for Sustainable Development Governance.

It examines three main proposals for reforming sustainable development governance: strengthening the UN Environment Programme (UNEP); upgrading UNEP to a specialized agency or establishing a UN environmental organization; and creating a world environmental organization.
