6 September 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), strengthening their commitment to collaboration and partnership for sustainable development in the Pacific region.

Under the MoU, the organisations will maximise cooperation and reduce potential duplication in delivering services to their member countries and territories within their respective mandates, according to SPREP and SPC. The MoU addresses mechanisms for consultations at the level of Chief Executive Officer as well as at technical and programme staff levels, participation in each other’s governing body meetings, and operational arrangements.
