SPC Convenes ICT for Development Workshop in Palau
story highlights

The workshop provided Government staff in Palau the opportunity to learn about information and communication technology for development, and its associated benefits and risks.

22 February 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), together with Palau’s Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Industries and Commerce, and Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technology for Development (APCICT), convened a two-day workshop on National Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for Development, from 9-10 February 2011 in Koror, Palau.

The workshop aimed to assist Palau in addressing the current lack of ICT capacity in the country by helping to build understanding and knowledge of ICT and raise awareness of benefits and risks of ICT. The content of the workshop was based on the flagship training programme of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP)/APCICT, Academy of ICT Essentials for Government Leaders, which has been endorsed by and translated for several countries in the region.
