SPC Collaborates on Disaster Risk with Melanesian Spearhead Group

Under the four-year Memorandum of Understanding, SPC and MSG will partner on activities related to: conservation and sustainable management and development of natural resources; promotion of sustainable energy; providing support for capacity development in economic infrastructure; culture and the arts; labor mobility; and trade and economic development.

SPC17 July 2012: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) has announced that it has signed a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG), in order to enhance collaboration between the two regional entities, including by developing joint programming in the areas of disaster risk management, culture and the arts, labor mobility, and trade and economic development.

Under the four-year MOU, SPC and MSG also will partner on activities related to: conservation and sustainable management and development of natural resources; the promotion of sustainable energy; and providing support for capacity development in economic infrastructure.

MSG is composed of the governments of Fiji, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Vanuatu. [SPC Press Release]
