30 September 2011: The Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) has announced that, with financial support from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), it is assisting Pacific Island countries and territories (PICTs) in developping disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation responses.

The approach has focused on increasing the resilience of the agriculture and forestry sectors, which underpin economic growth in the Pacific as they contribute to employment, income and foreign exchange earnings.
