South Asian Illegal Ozone Trade Meeting Convenes

The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Government of India convened the Border Dialogue on Monitoring and Controlling Trade in Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) meeting from 8-9 April 2010, in Chalsa, India.

The meeting included a one-day regional dialogue with representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Nepal. This was followed by a one-day capacity building training for customs and enforcement officers to enhance their knowledge and skills in identifying and handling ODS. Representatives from the World Customs Organization’s Regional Intelligence Office for Asia and the Pacific and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime also participated in the workshop.
