A fund to support small island developing states has been launched followed a meeting in New York, US, on 13 February 2008.

The event launched the “Global Island Green Finance Facility,” with an initial one million Euros contribution from Greece, according to the UN Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS). The meeting was organized by the UN Foundation and hosted by the Permanent Mission of India to the UN, in New York.
