28 February 2013: The Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT), along with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the World Resources Institute’s (WRI) sustainable transport center (EMBARQ), produced a summary report for the expert workshop on Prospects for National-Level Programmes and Funds for Sustainable Urban Transport in China.

The workshop was held from 1-3 November 2013 in Mutianyu, China. Based on challenges and recommendations outlined during the workshop, the report summarizes: challenges of financing sustainable urban transport in China; experiences financing sustainable urban transport from other countries; and outcomes from breakout groups on promising approaches to overcome the financing challenge. The report recommends developing a combination of national-local sustainable funding mechanisms, supporting a comprehensive approach to integrated planning, and improving the coordination of institutions within and between cities.

The SLoCaT Partnership multi-stakeholder partnership of 65 organizations, is registered with the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD), and has the objective of improving knowledge on sustainable low carbon transport to help develop better policies and catalyze their implementation.
