11 October 2012: The Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) is calling for nominations for the Stockholm Industry Water Award, aimed at recognizing companies and businesses that have made significant contributions to help improve the world’s water situation.

The Stockholm Industry Water Award aims to recognize private sector organizations that have made contributions to global water demands and use, through, for instance, water and wastewater technologies or improvements to performance in production processes. The selection committee, appointed by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, is a jury chaired by a representative of the Academy and consists of international professionals and scientists, including representatives of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the Stockholm Water Foundation, the Global Water Partnership (GWP), and the International Water Association.

In assessing nominees, the jury will address, among other questions, whether: the achievements are innovative; the results are proven; the achievements are cost- and resource-effective; and the process or product is applicable in other parts of the world. Along with these considerations, the committee will take note of whether the company has a strong record of social and environmental responsibility.
