SERN Releases Updated Policy and Regulation Database and Reviews
story highlights

The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP)-funded Sustainable Energy Regulation Network (SERN) update spotlights three activities: an energy policy and regulation database of more than 160 countries; an overview document highlighting targets and measures to increase energy efficiency in 43 countries; and an updated, annotated reference bibliography on 100 key papers on regulation and sustainable energy.

8 August 2015: The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partnership (REEEP) released an update on the activities of the REEEP-funded Sustainable Energy Regulation Network (SERN). Featured activities include: an updated country database on energy policies and regulation; a review of energy efficiency institutions and policies; and an updated literature review on energy regulation and policies.

SERN’s online policy and regulation database provides information on more than 160 countries. In August, SERN updated energy policy and regulation data for more than 100 countries. Country overviews include descriptions and analysis on: energy sources, policies, and regulations; involved actors; and the potential for renewable energy and energy efficiency.

SERN also released an energy efficiency review of institutions and policies in 43 countries. This review provides a snapshot of country targets and measures to increase energy efficiency. It includes an overview of the country’s primary energy supply among the agricultural, commercial, industrial, residential and transport sectors and lists sector contributions to energy efficiency.

The updated energy regulation and policy literature review includes nine sections, including new sections on energy costs and subsidies and feed-in tariff design. This review is structured as an annotated bibliography and reference guide that evaluates 100 key papers and publications on regulation and sustainable energy to illustrate current debates and research findings from academic and practitioner literature.
