Ban said that he was informed by scientists that global warming is altering the Arctic faster than any other area. Before leaving Norway, Secretary-General Ban visited the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, in Norway, and highlighted that it represents a creative initiative to fight for long-term food security in the face of climate change.[UN News Report][Statement at Svalbard Global Seed Vault]
