Rio+20 Side Events Highlight Mountains, Water and Energy Access

Throughout 18 June 2012, a number of side events were held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in conjunction with the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), highlighting corporate sustainability, mountains, sustainable energy for all, REDD+ and water access issues.

18 June 2012: A number of side events took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in conjunction with the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20), including on energy access, mountains and water issues.

Side events held on 18 June 2012 included: The Corporate Sustainability Forum: Economics and Finance for Sustainable Development, organized by SK Group; Rio+20: The future we choose, organized by the Stockholm Resilience Centre, the Fundaçao Brasileira para o Desenvolvimento Sustentavel and partners; Mountain knowledge solutions for sustainable green economy and improved water, food, energy, and environment nexus, organized by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD); Dublin Rio Principles, where do we stand, what lessons learned, organized by the African Ministers’ Council on Water (AMCOW) and partners; The Impact of New Technologies and ICTs on Sustainable Development, organized by the Global Alliance for Information and Communication Technologies and Development (GAID) and ICT4Peace Foundation; Analysing REDD+: Challenges and choices, organized by the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), the Norwegian University of Life Sciences and Wageningen University; and Expanding Energy Access to Achieve Sustainable Energy for All, organized by the Carbon War Room, World Health Organization and UN-Energy.
