Rio+20: Making it Happen Volume 2, Issue 8 Highlights UNCSD-CSD Linkages

CSD 19 is meeting from 2-13 May 2011 and is the last CSD session before the 2012 UNCSD.

The newsletter reports that CSD 19 Chair László Borbély has called for “the political will of all actors for identifying concrete policy actions and measures that would tackle the present sustainable development challenges and advance the sustainable development themes” of Rio+20.

29 April 2011: Rio+20: Making It Happen, Volume 2, Issue 8, highlights the third workshop on “Green Economy Pathways,” which was co-organized by the UN General Assembly and the Group of Friends on the Thematic Debate on Green Economy, as well as linkages between the 19th session of the Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD 19) and the UNCSD (Rio+20).

CSD 19 is meeting from 2-13 May 2011 and is the last CSD session before the 2012 UNCSD. Accordingly, CSD 19 Chair László Borbély has called for “the political will of all actors for identifying concrete policy actions and measures that would tackle the present sustainable development challenges and advance the sustainable development themes” of Rio+20.

This issue also reports on the 20 April Interactive Dialogue of the UN General Assembly on Harmony with Nature, and announces a 6 May 2011 seminar to be organized by UN University in New York, titled “Vision for RIO+20: System Change for Green Economy and Poverty Reduction” and the third meeting of the High-level Panel on Global Sustainability (GSP), which will convene from 11-12 May 2011, in Helsinki, Finland.
