The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), and the Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet) reported on a regional workshop to strengthen forest statistics collection, analysis and reporting in Indo-China.
3 October 2014: The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO), and the Asia-Pacific Network for Sustainable Forest Management and Rehabilitation (APFNet) reported on a regional workshop to strengthen forest statistics collection, analysis and reporting in Indo-China.
The workshop included representatives from Cambodia, China, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam, who discussed discrepancies with regard to trade data and committed to improve cooperation to address areas of discord and increase the quality of statistics. The workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of participants to collect and validate forest data. Discussions were also held on avenues for closer collaboration between ITTO and the Government of China.
