30 October 2013: The Government of Norway, through its International Climate and Forest Initiative (NICFI), convened the REDD Exchange in order to facilitate learning and knowledge sharing on REDD+.

In particular, the Exchange facilitated discussions on the landscape approach within the framework of REDD+, commodity supply chains relevant for REDD+, analysis concept and methodology development for REDD+ implementation, jurisdictional approaches, and finance.

Within the framework of the above, sessions were held on issues such as gender mainstreaming, governance and land tenure, improving data transparency, and deforestation risk management, among others. Overall, the Exchange highlighted a commitment from Norway’s Environment Minister Tine Sundtoft to continue to strengthen Norway’s climate and REDD+ engagement. The Exchange also presented an opportunity to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the UN Collaborative Programme on Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation in Developing Countries (UN-REDD).

The Exchange also piloted a ‘results bar’ at which 15 projects funded by the Government of Norway presented achievements and lessons learned.
