21 November 2012: The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands is seeking to appoint a new Secretary General. The position is currently occupied by Tiéga Anada, whose contract finishes in July 2013.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), located in Gland, Switzerland, provides administrative services for the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. The Convention’s core budget funds the Secretary General position. The position is answerable to the Standing Committee of the Convention and ultimately to the COP.
