The newsletter from the World Bank's Program on Forests (PROFOR) highlights the results of the Nairobi investment forum on private sector opportunities for the forestry sector, as well as new projects and initiatives to promote sustainable forest management, forest restoration and law enforcement.

5 July 2011: The July 2011 edition of the Newsletter from the Program of Forests, “PROFOR Update,” highlights the results of the Investment Forum held in Nairobi, Kenya, from 25-27 May 2011, which focused on private sector opportunities related to growing trees, marketing tree products and restoring degraded landscapes.


The newsletter for PROFOR, a program of the World Bank, also announces an upcoming workshop on the impacts of certification on forests, as well as side events during the Durban Climate Change Conference at the end of 2011.

Among new initiatives, it presents a project on forest restoration in Chile, efforts to support the redesign of the Mexican Forest Fund for sustainable forest management in Mexico, an initiative to develop a forest law enforcement community of practice, and a project to strengthen the chain of custody of forest products in Liberia.
